3/4 Day SumFum Fishing Trip on May 25 - a letter by Hazen Gonzalez
On May 25, 2017, a small group from my church, NorthGrove Calvary Chapel, and I were blessed to be able to join Fishers of Men West Coast and Angler Chronicles on a 3/4 day fishing trip on an Owners Hooks Fishing School Charter out of Dana Point aboard the SumFun. It was an amazing fund raising event we were grateful to have been a part of. The crew of Sum Fun was extremely attentive and helpful to everyone on board, especially the deckhand, Kioni. Sergio, Captain Larry, and Ron from Angler Chronicles were all great! They each shared their fishing knowledge and techniques with everyone. They even showed us how it was done when the going got tough.
The very best part was the fellowship with the Fishers of Men West Coast team. We came to fish while raising money for this great ministry; the giving of new shoes to underprivileged children & the rebuilding of relationships between fathers and sons. Being able to witness it happening along with the fishing was great but the fellowship was even better. We were blessed to be able experience this. The whole event was awesome, from the dock in the morning before we embarked to the time we returned. It wasn't your ordinary cattle boat fishing trip either. It was great to open in prayer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to be in a fishing atmosphere where a reverence for God and a respect for one another was present. It was definitely cool to share the boat with all these guys.
We were truly blessed and can't wait until the August 31st trip that will help raise funds to buy more shoes to be given away during the 2017 Casting4Souls event in October. Thank you. May God continue to bless and provide for Fishers of Men West Coast.
